Unplug and reconnect.
Known to many as the spiritual heart of Australia, Uluru is a beautiful, mystical place no matter what time of year you visit. More than simply a landmark, Uluru and the neighbouring Kata Tjuta are believed by Indigenous people to be sacred places that are alive with history. According to the Anangu, Uluru was formed due to the actions of ancestral beings many thousands of years ago. They believe that Uluru and Kata Tjuta are living, breathing cultural landscapes.
There’s no doubt that a visit to Uluru can be a powerful, transformative experience, and the spirits of peace, tranquility, and something “more” in the area can be felt by visitors. To explore the spiritual side of the Red Centre, guests can take part in a wellness retreat, participate in one of the many Indigenous experiences (many of them free!) or sign up for an intimate sunset tour or an evening meal during Sounds of Silence.
Uluru and Kata Tjuta
The Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park is vast, spanning more than 327,414 acres of Australia’s desert outback, and is home to two of the world’s most iconic rock formations, Uluru and Kata Tjuta. Soaring hundreds of metres above the plains below, Uluru and Kata Tjuta are not just marvellous to look at and explore – their history and their cultural significance will leave you in awe.
Anangu Spirituality
For the Anangu who have made their homes in the Red Centre for thousands of years, life revolves around the Tjukurpa (sometimes wrongly referred to as the Dreamtime). This is the ancestral period of when the world was being formed. To them, Uluru is not simply a rock formation, but a living, being thing – and a sacred place that must be respected.
Sounds of Silence
Spend four magical hours underneath the sparkling desert sky during this unforgettable dining experience. From your perch upon a dune top, you’ll have incredible views of the National Park. Sip Australian wines and munch on canapes and a delectable bush tucker-inspired menu featuring fresh local ingredients and seasonings. As the night sky twinkles to life, our resident star talker will point out constellations, planets, and galaxies and the significance of each. More than a dinner, this immersive experience is one you’ll be sharing for years to come.
