Change to Wake when the desert does

You might not want to pull yourself out of your cosy, comfortable 'Ahh' bed, but trust us, it's worth it for Desert Awakenings. You won't want to miss seeing the last stars fade from view, and the magic of the desert come to life as the dawn of a new day transforms Uluru and Kata Tjuta. From your private and remote sunrise viewing site, embrace the rugged and rustic atmosphere, before enjoying the great Australian breakfast — a bacon and egg roll or homemade damper with Golden Syrup.

Once you've had your fill of coffee and food, a local guide will lead you on a short walk to Mutitjulu waterhole at the base of Uluru. Here, you can explore the ancient rock paintings which highlight the importance of this site to Anangu.

Fall in love with Field of Light

Everybody loves a bit of mood lighting! And at the Field of Light, you can marvel over 50,000 coloured spheres dotting the desert. But that's not all, you can also enjoy a three-course bush tucker feast — all combining to create a once in a lifetime experience you can't miss. Pair Bruce Munro's critically acclaimed Field of Light exhibition with the iconic Sounds of Silence alfresco dining experience, and you have A Night at Field of Light — a truly extraordinary affair.

Your magical evening will begin by enjoying outback canapés and glasses of sparkling wine while a didgeridoo plays in the background. As darkness falls around you, the Field of Light will gently twinkle to life in the distance, and you'll tuck into your delicious three-course dinner. When the meal is done, the magic is only beginning. You can sit back as the resident star talker decodes the southern sky right in front of your eyes. Then, you'll enjoy a closer view of the dazzling Field of Light art installation with a stroll through the colourful stems as they sway in the breeze around you. All in all, a top-notch evening.

Steal a kiss from a camel

Jump aboard the outback's most iconic form of transportation, the Camel Express! These single-humped beauties will lead you through the desert as our expert cameleers describe the native flora and fauna you encounter while sauntering along. Depending on how long you want to bat your eyelashes at your newest friends, you can choose between a mid-morning ride or link it in with a sunrise or sunset experience. Along the way, you'll also visit the Camel Farm Museum and learn about the Red Centre's camel history, plus get to sample our famous baked beer bread with quandong jam (psst, it's delicious).

Pick your camel.

Retreat to an oasis and pamper yourselves silly

The Red Ochre Spa offers the latest in spa treatments designed to renew energies and evoke luscious relaxation, right in the heart of the desert. There are treatment options here for everybody, from focused treatments to absolute total indulgences. Looking for a recommendation? We love the Sacred Journey package — the ultimate in pampering. This luxurious three-hour spa experience begins with a cleansing foot ritual, followed by dry body brushing, a full-body exfoliation, and a detox wrap of your choice. Then, you'll enjoy a relaxing scalp massage and hair treatment before finishing with a full-body relaxation massage, flash facial, and eye treatment. Feeling rejuvenated yet?

Slip into relaxation in the heart of Uluru.
