We look forward to you joining us on the Qantas Scenic Flight Getaway to Uluru, the ultimate weekend adventure packed with unforgettable experiences.

Your weekend getaway begins with a pre-flight breakfast at the Qantas Business Lounge at Sydney Airport ahead of a special scenic flight experience to Uluru with low level flybys offering views of Sydney Harbour, Uluru and Kata Tjuta, And, of course, once you arrive at Ayers Rock Resort, you’ll get to enjoy the very best of the Red Centre – with a little downtime in between. Visitors come from all over the world to experience this unique part of Australia but for now, this experience is just for you.

Packing Information

The weather will be hot with temperatures ranging from 21-39 degrees during the day and in the evening. We suggest you wear comfortable lightweight clothing and closed in walking shoes and please bring insect repellent, sunscreen and sun protective clothing. The dress code for Saturday evening’s dinner is smart casual and you may want to bring swimwear for the hotel pool. You will be gifted a pair of Qantas pyjamas.

Note: Please be on time for all scheduled transfers with everything you need for the activity as the bus will leave on time and you will need to make own arrangements to catch up with the group in the event of missing scheduled transfers.

DAY 1 - Saturday, 5 December

8.00am
Flight to Uluru

Your weekend getaway begins with a pre-departure breakfast in the Sydney Qantas Business Lounge from 8am on Saturday 5 December before boarding your private charter 737 flight to Uluru. Please check-in at the airport kiosk in T3 before making your way through security to the lounge.

Your Qantas pilots are designing a non-standard flight path that involves  scenic fly-bys of the world-famous Sydney Harbour and surrounding beaches on departure before settling in to enjoy Qantas hospitality, including lunch, as we make our way across to the Red Centre. Before landing, you’ll be treated to low-level circuits around Uluru and Kata Tjuta with views of the expansive salt lakes of Lake Amadeus.

There are currently entry requirements for the Northern Territory and all passengers will be required to fill in a Border Entry Form within seven days of arrival and bring a printed copy of the completed form. Please review the NT interstate travel requirements. 

To ensure the safety and wellbeing of Ayers Rock Resort guests, staff, and local communities you must present a photo ID and evidence of your whereabouts for the past 14 days (credit card statement or similar) to Voyages representatives in the Lounge. . Online or printed is fine. Please ensure you review Voyages FAQ page to make sure you’re informed on the latest policies and procedures.

Arrival at Ayers Rock Airport

Upon arrival at Ayers Rock airport you’ll collect any checked baggage and complete the Northern Territory Health Check.

AAT Kings Transfer to the Hotel

Air-conditioned coach transfers will take you to Sails in the Desert Hotel.

Upon arrival at your accommodation,  leave your bags with the porters at the front of the hotel and meet at reception for the first activity.

Dot Painting Workshop with Maruku Arts in Uluru Meeting Place

Our dot painting workshop runs for an hour and a half guided by a local Anangu artist and interpreter. Learn about ancient symbols used in Anangu art and teachings and be taught some introductory Pitjantjatjara words (Pitjantjatjara is a local language spoken by Anangu). Through the introduction to Anangu tools, you will get a sense of traditional and contemporary life as well as being able to create, keep and share your own story.

Check-in to your room and enjoy free time by the pool or exploring Ayers Rock Resort.

Meet at the front of Sails in the Desert for your Transfer to A Night at Field of Light

This exclusive dining experience combines the award-winning ‘Sounds of Silence’ dinner under the outback sky with the once-in-a-lifetime Field of Light art installation. Enjoy magnificent views of Uluru at sunset, a three-course bush tucker menu, a selection of Australian wines and beers, fascinating star talk and a self-guided walk through the Field of Light art installation.

DAY 2 - SUNDAY, 6 December

Meet at the Front of Sails in the Desert Hotel for your Guided Tour into the Uluru, Kata Tjuta National Park

Our tour departs from the front of Sails in the Desert hotel. Travel into Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park to experience Sunrise over Uluru at Talinguru Nyakunytjaku (Sunrise Viewing Platform). After sunrise, experience Uluru up-close with a guided walk to Mutitjulu Waterhole before journeying on to the mystical domes of Kata Tjuta. From the base of Walpa Gorge, spend  time exploring the gorge and the unusual conglomerate rock formations. The walking trail through Walpa Gorge follows the natural creek between two of the tallest domes.

An on-the-go breakfast bag is included in your tour.

Check-out at reception

Please leave your bags in the room for collection by porters.

Meet at Sails in the Desert, Ilkari Restaurant for Farewell Brunch

Meet at the front of Sails in the Desert Hotel for Coach Transfer to the airport

Your luggage will be loaded onto the coach and you will be able to collect it at Ayers Rock Airport for the Qantas bag drop.
